As you can see, these easy Christmas cookie sticks call for basic ingredients. You probably already have most of them in your pantry. If you don’t like almond flavouring, you can easily substitute it for vanilla, lemon or another family favourite.
Let’s talk about melting chips! There are several other options besides milk chocolate and white chocolate, mentioned here. Consider using alternates like butterscotch and peanut butter as well. If you can’t find thee flavours locally, they’re usually easy to find online.
Another idea is to add cocoa powder to the dough for chocolate shortbread. I advise you to add a little at a time, until the flavour is as chocolaty as you want to be. You might also decide to cut the finished product into thinner pieces. This way, they’ll last longer… maybe!
This simple Christmas cookies recipe is perfect for cookie exchange parties. If you know who’ll be attending in advance, you can always get extra creative and personalize the decorations for each guest. Remember, when you attend one of these swaps, it’s always a nice gesture to include the recipe in each individual container of baked goods.
